Pre-Install Planning and Installation

Hardware and software requirements

  • Processor: Pentium II 300 Mhz or faster
  • Memory: 256 MB
  • Disk Space: 20 MB + Cache Storage Space (20 GB +)
  • NTFS partition required for caching
  • 2 NICs (External / Internal)
  • Windows 2000 Service Pack 1
  • ISA Server Array requires an Active Directory environment
  • Ports 80 and 8080

Upgrade from Proxy Server 2.0 on Windows NT

  1. Backup old configuration
  1. Disconnect from internet
  1. Stop all Proxy 2.0 services
  1. Remove Proxy Server from Array if set up
  1. Upgrade install to Windows 2000
  1. Install Windows 2000 SP1 (or later)
  1. Install ISA Server 2000
Cache Files and Socks rules do not transfer over

Troubleshooting ISA Installation

  1. Unable to access internet after install - by design, everything blocked by default
  1. Error messages appear during install - use removal tool and clean install \i386\RMISA.EXE
  1. Users accessing websites without access rules - Check LAT
  1. After proxy upgrade users can’t access internet - proxy clients uses port 80 ISA uses 8080
